Wolves transfer news: Norway international 'closing' on Molineux move with Vitor Pereira frustration set to ease

A Wolfe to join the pack: Pereira frustration to ease as Wolves 'close' on £10m left-back

Wolverhampton Wanderers reportedly have an agreement in place to sign AZ Alkmaar defender David Moller Wolfe.

Despite the array of departures from Molineux during the summer transfer window, only Spanish prospect Fer Lopez and Colombia international Jhon Arias have arrived.

That is despite Vitor Pereira known to want a bare minimum of four more signings to strengthen the wing-back, central midfield and centre-forward positions.

Even with Ki-Jana Hoever and Hugo Bueno being reintegrated into the squad after loans at Auxerre and Feyenoord, the former is arguably the most crucial with Nelson Semedo and Rayan Ait-Nouri moving onto pastures new.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Wolves are on the brink of resolving their issue at left wing-back.

Who is David Moller Wolfe?

The report alleges that Wolves have agreed a fee - believed to be €11.5m (£9.97m) - to sign the Norway international.

Moller Wolfe is now expected to undergo a medical, whether that be in Spain where Wolves are preparing to face Girona or at the club's Compton training facilities.

In two seasons with AZ Alkmaar, the 23-year-old has contributed four goals and 10 assists from 92 appearances in all competitions.

He was part of the AZ team that reached the Europa League last 16 in 2024-25, while he also has 12 caps for his country, most notably playing the 90 minutes in the recent 3-0 victory over Italy in World Cup qualifying.

Although having spent all but a couple of games of his career being deployed at left-back, Moller-Wolfe will seemingly make the transition to wing-back in Pereira's 3-4-2-1 formation.

A deal that has ramifications for Newcastle United?

Jorgen Strand Larsen is a teammate of Moller Wolfe on the international and no doubt was spoken to ahead of his transfer.

Newcastle United have been linked with a move for Strand Larsen as they bid to find a replacement for Alexander Isak, who seems likely to leave St James' Park.

Wolves were always likely to shun any offers for last season's top goalscorer, but the assumption is that Strand Larsen is committed to the West Midlands outfit if a familiar face is joining him at the club.
