Megson in the frame for Wolves job

Gary Megson has emerged as a surprise contender for the Wolverhampton Wanderers manager's job.

The relegation-threatened club are considering appointing the former Sheffield Wednesday coach as their third boss of the season, according to The Mirror.

Wolves owner Steve Morgan and chief executive Jez Moxey and said to be seeking a swift appointment following defeats to Fulham and Blackburn Rovers under caretaker manager Terry Connor.

Megson, who previously coached the team's bitter rivals West Bromwich Albion, was sacked by Sheffield Wednesday two weeks ago.

He previously completed stints with Norwich, Stoke, Nottingham Forest, Leicester and Bolton, steering the latter clear of relegation from the Premier League four seasons ago.

Wolves are yet to confirm that Megson is in the frame to succeed Mick McCarthy as manager.
