Wolverhampton Wanderers will be bidding to end a 45-year streak when they square off against Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

Wolverhampton Wanderers can end a 45-year streak when they play host to Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

On Friday, Vitor Pereira was rewarded for the remarkable impact that he has made at Molineux since his December arrival with the Premier League Manager of the Month award for April.

That was a consequence of Wolves winning six matches in a row in the top flight, something that ended with a 1-0 defeat at Manchester City last week.

Nevertheless, Wolves now sit in 13th position in the Premier League table with three matches remaining, the target being to overtake 12th-placed Crystal Palace who they are still left to play.

Beating Brighton on Saturday will be the immediate focus, though, and Wolves will end a 45-year streak should they get the better of the Seagulls.

What streak can Wolves end?

Wolves have scored a total of 51 goals from their 35 Premier League fixtures during 2024-25, the joint-most that they have ever netted in the division.

Should they find the back of the net in one of their last three games, it would represent the most that they have scored in a top-flight campaign since 1979-80.

That said, they will be square off against a Brighton side that have won on their last three visits to Molineux in the league, scoring 10 times in the process.

Furthermore, Wolves have incredibly only won nine of their 45 matches against Brighton in their entire history, with no Premier League success coming since December 2021.

Brighton still in European hunt

Meanwhile, Brighton travel to the West Midlands looking for a win that could prove pivotal in their efforts to secure European football.

Despite earning four points from games against West Ham United and Newcastle United, Fabian Hurzeler's side have secured just one win from eight matches in all competitions.

One stat that will encourage Wolves is Brighton conceding as many as eight goals in the 89th minute or later in Premier League matches this season.

In the reverse fixture at the Amex Stadium in October, Wolves scored in the 88th and 93rd minutes to secure a dramatic 2-2 draw.
