Kenny Jackett hopeful of Wolverhampton Wanderers stay

Wolverhampton Wanderers head coach Kenny Jackett says that he is hopeful of remaining at the club, despite reports suggesting that he could be replaced at Molineux.

Wolverhampton Wanderers head coach Kenny Jackett has admitted that there is uncertainty surrounding his position at the club.

Reports in Spain have suggested that former Porto boss Julen Lopetegui will be appointed as the club's new manager should Chinese businessman Robert Li complete a takeover of the Championship outfit.

Wolves have announced that they cannot comment on the speculation but while Jackett has acknowledged that such a deal could see him leave the club, he has said that he is keen to continue in a role that he has held since 2013.

The 54-year-old told the Express & Star: "I certainly have seen the rumours and the club have responded.

"I do understand that when clubs are up for sale there's potential for change, we understand that. I certainly hope it's not the case but as far as the board of directors are concerned, I'm sure when they have something concrete to go on they make the announcement.

"I haven't had any assurances (from the board), only because I haven't seen or spoken to the people that I work for."

Lopetegui had previously been linked with the Spain job but journalist Guillem Balague has suggested that he could be installed as the new boss of Wolves next week.
