Johnson staying at Wolves 'for the money'

Exiled Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Roger Johnson has admitted that he stays at the club for the money.

The 31-year-old hasn't played for Wolves since Kenny Jackett became manager last summer, but earns around £25,000 a week to train in the afternoon after the rest of the team have finished their session.

When asked on Soccer AM why he doesn't leave Molineux, Johnson said: "It's a good question. I'm employed by the club so I would probably give up a fair amount of money if I just walked out.

"[Fans] can point the finger, but I didn't ask to come in at 2pm. I didn't ask not to play. I want to play football."

Johnson made 21 appearances while on loan at Sheffield Wednesday and West Ham United last season.
