Ivan Cavaleiro close to Wolverhampton Wanderers return

Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Nuno Espirito Santo reveals that winger Ivan Cavaleiro is nearing a return to full fitness following a back injury.

Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Ivan Cavaleiro is reportedly closing in on a return to action following a back problem.

The 24-year-old is yet to feature for the club since their return to the Premier League, having sustained a back injury in the gym during pre-season.

However, the Portugal international is expected to return to full training in the near future, and manager Nuno Espirito Santo is pleased with the winger's progress.

"He's making progress. One of the good things is that he is starting to train almost 100% with the team," Nuno told reporters.

"It's good. First of all, the process was trying to get him out of pain. I think that the medical department managed that, achieved that.

"Now he is back training with the team, to grow his fitness levels and get back again as soon as possible – an option for us. There is no time frame. Time will tell but we cannot do it with the pressure of trying to rush things. It's step by step."

Cavaleiro scored eight goals in 39 appearances for Wolves last season.
