Wigan Athletic sign right-back Kevin McNaughton

Wigan Athletic have announced that they have signed veteran defender Kevin McNaughton on a free transfer.

The 32-year-old, who was released by Cardiff City at the end of last season, has joined the Latics on a one-year-deal.

Manager Gary Caldwell told the club's official website: "I've known Kevin for a long time and we are fortunate that someone of his pedigree and experience has come available at the right time.

"He's an important addition to the squad who will add terrific competition on the right hand side."

Wigan start their League One campaign against Coventry City on Saturday.
