Andy Delort keen to repay Wigan Athletic faith

New signing Andy Delort admits that he wants to repay Wigan Athletic's faith in him after they paid almost £3m to sign him from Tours.

Striker Andy Delort has admitted that he feels relieved to have secured himself a transfer to Wigan Athletic before the end of the transfer window.

A whole host of clubs in England and abroad were vying for the Frenchman's signature, which resulted in previous side Tours strengthening their stance to keep him, but Delort believes that the experience has helped him mature ahead of his move to the DW Stadium.

The 22-year-old told the Wigan Evening Post: "It was a very difficult period for me, one that's probably changed me a little bit as a person. I was being presented with this amazing opportunity that kept being taken away from me.

"I feel that I've matured more as a person, and realised that when opportunities are presented, you have to take them.

"Now that I'm here, I want to repay the faith. This is the start of an adventure, not the end. I am fiercely ambitious, and I want to progress with Wigan Athletic."

Delort could make his debut in Wigan's fixture at Blackburn Rovers on Saturday afternoon.
