West Ham United 'make Asamoah Gyan loan approach'

West Ham aim to solve their goalscoring troubles by recruiting former Sunderland striker Asamoah Gyan on a six-month loan in January, according to a report.

West Ham United are reported to have to made enquiries into the possibility of taking former Sunderland forward Asamoah Gyan on loan in January.

The Ghanian international, who is currently playing in the United Arab Emirates for Al Ain, scored 10 goals in 34 appearances for the Black Cats before leaving in 2012.

Hammers boss Sam Allardyce is desperate to add a striker to his goal-shy squad in the upcoming transfer window, and Sky Sports News claims that he has made an approach to sign Gyan on a six-month deal.

With £15m club-record signing Andy Carroll yet to feature since his summer arrival due to injury, the Upton Park outfit have struggled to find the net this term, scoring only 14 goals in 17 Premier League games.

With his alternatives to Carroll proving less than prolific, Allardyce may see Gyan - who has previously played for Udinese, Modena and Rennes - as a short-term solution to their troubles in front of goal.
