Sullivan: 'West Ham looking for new striker'

West Ham United co-owner David Sullivan has confirmed that the club are keen to sign a new centre-forward in the near future.

Following confirmation that Andy Carroll will miss the remainder of the campaign with a knee injury, manager Sam Allardyce has just Enner Valencia, Diafra Sakho and Carlton Cole to select from.

Although the transfer window has closed, free agents can still be signed, with Sullivan admitting that it is a route that the Hammers are looking to go down.

"We are looking around the world to see if there are any out of contract strikers we can bring in to give us some sort of backup," he told LBC.

Carroll joined West Ham on a permanent basis from Liverpool for £15m in 2013.
