David Sullivan: 'Dimitri Payet going nowhere'

West Ham United co-chairman David Sullivan insists that France attacker Dimitri Payet will not be allowed to leave the London club.

West Ham United co-chairman David Sullivan has insisted that the Hammers have no intention of letting Dimitri Payet leave the club.

Earlier this month, the 29-year-old refused to rule out a move away from the Olympic Stadium, claiming that he was "not closing the door on anything" after West Ham's poor start to the season.

Sullivan, however, has denied suggestions that the France international, who only signed a new long-term contract in February, will be allowed to seek pastures new.

"Dimitri has had an outstanding year and has become a vital player for France and I am so proud that he is a West Ham player," Sullivan told the club's website.

"He has played 16 times for his country in 2016, scoring seven goals and assisting five more, and inspiring them to the final of the European Championship.

"Dimi signed a new long-term contract in February, pledging his future to this club, and it is very much our intention that he remains with us for years to come."

Payet joined West Ham from Marseille in the summer of 2015 and scored 12 goals in 38 appearances during his debut season with the Hammers.
