Diafra Sakho leaves West Ham for Rennes

West Ham United have announced that striker Diafra Sakho has left the club to sign for Rennes.

The former Metz player had previously expressed a desire to return to French football, and the 28-year-old has now been given his wish after the Hammers agreed an undisclosed fee with Rennes.

The Senegalese international has spent the last three-and-a-half years in East London, scoring a total of 24 goals in 71 appearances in all competitions.

However, just two of his 17 outings this season came from the starting lineup - both in the EFL Cup - and manager David Moyes has decided to cash in on the player with just three days left of the January transfer window.

West Ham are expected to replace Sakho before Wednesday's deadline, with Michy Batshuayi, Troy Deeney and Graziano Pelle all being linked with a switch to the London Stadium.
