Sam Allardyce: 'David Beckham interest is speculation'

Allardyce rejects Beckham rumours

West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce has refuted suggestions that the club are pondering a bid for Los Angeles Galaxy star David Beckham.

The former Manchester United midfielder announced that he will leave the US side following the MLS Cup final next month.

The 37-year-old has since been linked to a host of clubs and reports had claimed that Allardyce was keen to launch a bid for the player.

"David has always said to me when he has been available that he only wanted to play for Manchester United in this country, and I haven't heard him say he wants to come back to England," Sky Sports News quotes Allardyce as saying.

"It is speculation until David decides where he wants to go. I am not so sure about the situation at all. If David said he wants to come back to London in the Premier League, we would talk about it. I don't want to say we will or we are. It is speculation."

Beckham has been with LA Galaxy since 2007.
