Manuel Pellegrini's position as West Ham United manager is reportedly under pressure following a poor run of results.

The Hammers slumped to a disappointing 3-2 home defeat against Steve Bruce's Newcastle United on Saturday, a result that took their winless run in all competitions to six games.

That run and a series of poor performances and questionable personnel decisions has, according to The Mirror, put the Chilean's status as manager in doubt for the first time since he joined the club in May 2018.

The report singles out the continued poor form of goalkeeper Roberto, a summer signing who is now deputising for the injured Lukasz Fabianski, as a source of disgruntlement among many of the club's fans.

The repeated selection of Pablo Zabaleta over the younger Ryan Fredericks at right-back has raised eyebrows, while the indifferent starts to the season made by Albian Ajeti and Pablo Fornals have led some to question whether Pellegrini really knows his best team.

West Ham, whose poor run was started by their 4-0 EFL Cup defeat to Oxford United, travel to Burnley on Saturday in their final game before the third international break of the current campaign.
