Alex Song hails "very important win" for West Ham United

West Ham United midfielder Alex Song claims that the team's 3-0 victory over Hull City was "very important" in their push for European qualification.

West Ham United midfielder Alex Song has described the team's 3-0 victory over Hull City as a "very important win".

The Hammers saw off Hull at Upton Park on Sunday to end their four-game winless run in the Premier League.

Song believes that he and his teammates had to win the match if they wanted to maintain their push for European qualification.

"It was a very important win," the former Cameroon international told the club's official website. "All the teams at the top won, so it was very important that we did as well at home.

"We had to keep going and keep trying to play the best football we can, and in the end we are happy because it was different in the second half. We were sharper and we kept the ball going forward with quick passing. It was a good result."

West Ham are back in action this Sunday when they travel to Bristol City in the fourth round of the FA Cup.
