Winston Reid thrilled by West Ham United triumph

West Ham defender Winston Reid expresses his delight in the wake of his team's 3-1 win over Liverpool.

West Ham United defender Winston Reid has expressed his delight following the team's 3-1 win over Liverpool in the Premier League.

The Hammers earned their first home victory of the season on Saturday as goals from Reid, Diafra Sakho and Morgan Amalfitano saw off the visiting Reds.

Despite posing a threat to Liverpool in attack through the likes of Enner Valencia, Reid believes that he and his defensive teammates should take special credit for the result.

"It was an excellent victory. Liverpool are a good team who will cause you problems, but I thought we limited them," the New Zealand international told the club's official website.

"In some situations this year we could have defended better, but on Saturday the defensive unit and the team as a whole was very good. We limited their chances - they were always going to get them, but we did limit them."

West Ham are back in action next Saturday when they make the trip to Manchester United in the Premier League.
