Shay Given expects tough West Ham United test

Aston Villa goalkeeper Shay Given expects his team to be faced with a difficult challenge when they travel to play West Ham United on Saturday.

Paul Lambert's side begin their Premier League campaign at Upton Park and Given insists that Villa must be on top form to deal with the direct style of play that the Hammers will adopt.

"I know what is coming, because I have played against teams of Sam Allardyce before and even played for him," Given said. "He is quite direct how he plays.

"We must be on top of our game as we're going to a right den."

Given retired from international football with the Republic of Ireland earlier this week.
