Former midfielder Jack Collison says that West Ham United's supporters are capable of making the difference in the club's efforts to remain in the Premier League.

Former midfielder Jack Collison has called on West Ham United's supporters to make a difference during the final three games in the Premier League.

West Ham currently hold a three-point cushion above the relegation zone, but the Hammers could still require at least one positive result to remain in the top flight.

The East London outfit face Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Saturday afternoon, and Collison has backed the travelling fans to give the players "a lift" after last weekend's heavy defeat to Manchester City.

The 29-year-old told the club's official website: "West Ham are lucky in that we have always had one of the best away followings of any club in the country. We always take thousands, no matter who the opposition, how far away it is, or what day and time it's played. It could be on a Monday night up north, live on TV, and we would still have a big away crowd.

"They certainly make themselves heard and, for the players, that is vital. You go to some big stadiums and if you run out for the warm-up and hear your fans singing louder than the home crowd, it immediately gives you a lift."

After Leicester, West Ham will end the season with home matches against Manchester United and Everton.
