West Ham United striker Carlton Cole has revealed that the club are looking for a midtable finish as they return to the Premier League this season.
The Hammers were promoted at the first time of asking following a playoff victory over Blackpool in May.
"You want to replicate the likes of Norwich and Swansea, who did well, and when you look at Queens Park Rangers surviving, all the newly promoted sides stayed up," Cole said. "We are trying to do the same.
"But to get midtable in our first season back and then look to progress from there is what you are looking at."
Sam Allardyce's side start the new campaign at home to Aston Villa on August 18.
