Sam Allardyce says that Manchester United's winning goal was a fluke after West Ham United were beaten 1-0 at Old Trafford.

West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce believes that his side deserved a point from their defeat to Manchester United.

Robin van Persie struck the game's only goal after just 33 seconds to give United a 1-0 win at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.

However, Allardyce is adamant that his side's performance did not warrant a loss and is happy with the way the Hammers played.

"We come to Old Trafford and in 30 seconds they score," said Allardyce.

"It was a fluke goal, to say the least.

"We couldn't help the fluke goal fortunately for Man United. You never know what could have happened if that had not gone in. It is disappointing that after all that we did not get anything from the game."

West Ham host Chelsea on Saturday.
