West Ham confirm Zouma, Johnson hamstring injuries

West Ham United have provided an update on the injuries sustained by defenders Kurt Zouma and Ben Johnson during last weekend's 3-2 victory against Chelsea.

Zouma hobbled off in the 71st minute at the London Stadium with a hamstring injury, while Johnson was substituted in first-half stoppage time with the same problem.

The Hammers have not put a timescale on their respective returns but have confirmed that both players have begun their rehabilitation programs.

A statement on West Ham's official website read: "West Ham United can confirm that Kurt Zouma sustained a hamstring tendon injury during Saturday's Premier League victory against Chelsea.

"A scan on Monday revealed the damage and the 27-year-old French international defender has already started his recovery programme at Rush Green under the supervision of the medical team.

"Meanwhile, Ben Johnson has also started his rehabilitation after suffering a low-grade hamstring strain during the 3-2 win against our London rivals.

"Everyone at West Ham United would like to wish both Kurt and Ben all the very best in their recovery."

Ahead of a busy Christmas period, this news will come as a blow for head coach David Moyes, who is already without experienced centre-back Angelo Ogbonna for the rest of the season after he underwent surgery on an ACL injury last month.
