Westley pays tribute to "first-class" West Ham

Terry Westley has praised his West Ham United players for successfully overcoming Andorran minnows Lusitanos 4-0 on aggregate to book a place in the Europa League second qualifying round.

The Hammers built on their three-goal advantage from last week's first leg through Elliot Lee's 21st-minute strike, but only after seeing Diafra Sakho dismissed.

West Ham did little wrong over the 180 minutes by restricting their opponents to minimum shots on goal, which academy boss Westley - who took charge of both games - was pleased to see.

"Mission accomplished, you would say, over the two legs," he told the club's official website. "We asked a group of players to return to work on 22 June and the cohesion between the senior and younger players was absolutely first class.

"I've got total respect for the senior players and how they went about it in both games. We kept two clean sheets and the way the two centre-halves dealt with everything they threw at us, they were determined to keep the ball out of the net."

Next up for the East London outfit is a trip to face Maltese side Birkirkara in seven days' time.
