West Brom told to increase bid for Cardiff City goalkeeper David Marshall

Cardiff City boss Russell Slade says that West Bromwich Albion must improve their bid for goalkeeper David Marshall after rejecting their first offer.

Cardiff City manager Russell Slade has said that West Bromwich Albion must improve their bid for goalkeeper David Marshall after their first offer was rejected by the Welsh club.

The 30-year-old goalkeeper is contracted at the Bluebirds until 2018 after signing a long-term deal during his impressive season in the Premier League in 2013-14.

Slade is adamant that Tony Pulis's side will have to pay up if they are to take one of Cardiff's prized assets away from South Wales.

"The numbers have to be right if we are to lose what is a quality goalkeeper," Slade told reporters.

"We'd all like him to stay and it would be a financial issue. If the money was right then obviously the club would have to consider."

Baggies manager Pulis has admitted that Marshall is "a keeper [they] want to bring into the club", with Ben Foster due to miss the start of the season with a knee injury.
