Dawson: 'I'm happy I remained at West Brom'

West Bromwich Albion defender Craig Dawson has revealed that he is keen to keep training hard in order to retain his place in the first team at The Hawthorns.

Dawson has featured in the Baggies' last two Premier League fixtures, and the England Under-21 international has admitted that he turned down an opportunity to leave the club on loan during the January transfer window.

The 23-year-old is quoted as saying by the Birmingham Mail: "I've had two games now and it's been great for me to play.

"In each game I play, I'm getting fitter, and we're in Spain now so hopefully I can keep improving my fitness and training hard.

"There was talk of going out on loan and we did sit down and discuss it, but we all decided that it was best for me to stick around to try to get some game time with West Brom."

West Brom return to action with a home fixture against Fulham on February 22.
