Joleon Lescott: 'Return to solid fundamentals was key to victory'

West Bromwich Albion defender Joleon Lescott feels that his side's return to a strong work ethic was key to their vital 2-0 win over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

West Bromwich Albion defender Joleon Lescott has claimed that a return to solid fundamentals was the driving force behind their 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace.

The Baggies ended a run of three straight defeats as goals from James Morrison and Craig Gardner guided Tony Pulis's men to the three points at Selhurst Park to ease their relegation worries.

Lescott admitted that he and his teammates had a group meeting following their defeat to Leicester City last week in order to amend their problems and get back to their best.

He told reporters: "After the last three games we couldn't do any worse. It wasn't a crisis but we were disappointed to lose three on the bounce. The manager is determined to win every game just as we are. So last Monday we got together.

"We do most Mondays to be honest, but there was more emphasis on individual errors that have cost us in recent games. The manager knows what he is doing.

"He has been in the game a long time and he steadied the ship. He said that we are a good team and if we work together like we did before the three defeats then we will be hard to beat. We know we are a hard team to break down if we all work together and it showed."

West Brom moved eight points clear of the relegation zone into 13th place in the Premier League as a result of their victory.
