West Brom to announce Clarke appointment

West Bromwich Albion will reportedly announce the appointment of new manager Steve Clarke in the next 24 hours.

The Baggies have been in the hunt for a new manager since the departure of Roy Hodgson to the England squad in April, with a number of names being linked to the position in recent months.

The likes of Birmingham City boss Chris Hughton and former Schalke 04 coach Ralf Rangnick were close contenders for the position, but news emerged yesterday claiming that Clarke was a frontrunner following his decision to leave Liverpool as first-team coach.

The Scotsman is expected to be confirmed as the new Baggies boss within the next 24 hours, according to Sky Sports News.

The 48-year-old spent a four-year stint at Chelsea as assistant manager as well as a two-year tenure in the same position at West Ham United before moving to Anfield.
