West Brom, Hodgson enter contract talks

West Bromwich Albion will begin contract talks with manager Roy Hodgson in January, the club have confirmed.

Hodgson took over at the Hawthorns from Roberto Di Matteo last year but only agreed a deal until the end of the current season.

However, Albion's sporting and technical director Dan Ashworth has revealed that the club are keen for the 64-year-old to extend his stay.

"We are fully aware of Roy's contract situation - as is Roy," Ashworth told the club's official website.

"Roy is quite relaxed about it. We speak quite regularly about plans for next year.

"We've had some vague discussions about the fact we've got some important fixtures coming up and that we will probably sit down in the new year."

Hodgson has previously managed Blackburn Rovers, Fulham and Liverpool in the Premier League.
