Joleon Lescott could make West Bromwich Albion debut against Everton

Joleon Lescott could make his West Bromwich Albion debut against Everton this weekend after coming through a midweek match unscathed.

West Bromwich Albion boss Alan Irvine has suggested that Joleon Lescott could make his first-team debut against Everton this weekend.

The 32-year-old, who joined the Baggies from Manchester City in the summer, is yet to feature for the Baggies in the Premier League due to calf and knee problems.

However, the defender's fitness has improved after he came through a behind-closed-doors friendly against Hull City on Tuesday.

"It is really important we do not rush him because that could lead to a setback," the Birmingham Mail quotes Irvine as saying.

"He's got to be right before we consider him for a first-team game but I'm sure he would love to play at the weekend. Certainly, the sooner we have Joleon and indeed all the other injury-affected players fit, the better."

The Baggies are yet to win a league game this season following two draws and one defeat.
