Steve Clarke hopeful of big things from deadline-day signings

West Bromwich Albion boss Steve Clarke hopes that his side's new signings will provide them with an attacking boost this season.

West Bromwich Albion boss Steve Clarke is hopeful that his three transfer deadline-day signings produce big things at the club.

The Baggies broke their club transfer record to sign forward Stephane Sessegnon and also secured deals for Victor Anichebe and Morgan Amalfitano.

"We needed to strengthen in the forward areas and we're very hopeful that Stephane and Victor will fit the bill," Clarke told the club's official website.

"Stephane is quick and direct and can be a match-winner. He has the individual skills that can turn a game. Along with Morgan, I'm hoping Stephane will add more creativity to the team.

"Victor is a different kind of striker to what we already have here. He is a big, strong, powerful targetman. He is the type of forward we identified that we needed to help us this season."

West Brom are currently bottom of the Premier League after taking just one point from their opening three fixtures.
