Brown Ideye rubbishes exit speculation

West Bromwich Albion striker Brown Ideye has rubbished reports that he was close to leaving the club on transfer deadline day.

The Baggies' £10m club-record summer signing was thought to be nearing a switch to Qatari side Al Gharafat after struggling in his first season at The Hawthorns.

Albion boss Tony Pulis is said to have pulled the plug over a move away after failing to land West Ham United's Carlton Cole, but Ideye insists that a departure was never on the cards.

"I'm still a West Bromwich Albion player, don't know where that news about me leaving #wba came from," he wrote on Twitter.

"Have not started doing what I know how to do best, so I can just leave #wba like that #biglovetoallthefans #lovewba."

Ideye has netted just one goal since joining from Dynamo Kiev in the summer, and has failed to find the net in the Premier League.
