Watford accept £2.5m bid for Mariappa

Watford are believed to have accepted a bid in the region of £2.5m from Wigan Athletic for defender Adrian Mariappa.

The Championship club turned down the Latics' original bid for the 25-year-old defender.

Now it appears that Mariappa could be on his way to the DW Stadium following Watford's decision to accept Roberto Martinez's offer, according to Sky Sports News.

Newcastle United have also been interested in the player, with Magpies boss Alan Pardew stating that the North East club have lodged a final bid for the defender.
