Quique Sanchez Flores gets Watford head coach job

Flores gets Watford job

Newly-promoted Premier League side Watford have confirmed the appointment of Quique Sanchez Flores as their new head coach on a two-year contract.

The 50-year-old replaces Slavisa Jokanovic, who failed to agree terms with the Hornets despite guiding them to automatic promotion from the Championship.

In a brief statement on their website, Watford thanked Jokanovic and his team for their "outstanding contribution to the success of the club".

Flores joins the Hertfordshire club three months after leaving Spanish side Getafe, where he was only in charge for a month before tendering his resignation.

As a player he turned out for Valencia and Real Madrid, going on to manage Atletico Madrid to Europa League glory in 2010.

He will be assisted by Alberto Diaz and Antonio Carlavilla, while Dean Austin will keep his role in the current coaching setup.
