Half-Time Report: Milan Lalkovic gives Walsall lead

On-loan Chelsea striker Milan Lalkovic gets the only goal of the first half as Walsall go into the break 1-0 up against Peterborough.

On-loan Chelsea striker Milan Lalkovic has given Walsall a 1-0 lead at the halfway stage of their League One clash with Peterborough United.

The visitors almost took an early lead after just seven minutes when Craig Alcock hammered a powerful effort towards goal from the edge of the box, only to see his strike rattle the crossbar.

The hosts then had a good chance of their own to break the deadlock when a free kick caused havoc in the Peterborough box before Paul Downing fired his shot straight at Robert Olejnik.

They did take the lead shortly afterwards, however, when Lalkovic was gifted the ball before embarking on a mazy run and finishing it off with a low shot under the keeper.

As things stand, Walsall would move up to seventh in the League One table, one place outside the playoffs.
