Rodrigo de Paul 'dreamt' of Valencia move

Valencia attacker Rodrigo de Paul says that it was a "dream" to join Los Che.

New Valencia attacker Rodrigo de Paul has revealed that it was a "dream" to join Los Che.

The 19-year-old, who completed his move from Racing Club to the Mestalla last month, has already turned his attention towards the new campaign.

"I dream of playing here and I dream of wearing the shirt. I also dream of playing in Europe. It seemed distant before, but now I am here and 1.5 months away from making the dream come true," he told reporters at a press conference.

"The interest came firstly from Ayala, who called me when I already had an offer from Italy in an advanced stage. He made a big effort to ensure I came to Valencia and not other European clubs.

"I spoke two or three times with [manager Juan Antonio Pizzi] and it went very well. He told me his ideas and I was very excited about them."

De Paul reportedly cost Valencia in the region of £5m.
