Valencia secure comeback victory against Celta Vigo

Valencia defeat Celta Vigo 2-1 at the Mestalla to finish the season above their opponents in the La Liga table.

Valencia have come from a goal behind to end their season in winning fashion against Celta Vigo.

The visitors were ahead with just five minutes played when Inigo Lopez scored from close range following a pass from Jonny.

Despite the early setback, Valencia worked their way back into the contest and nearly found a leveller through Míchel, but his effort was well kept out by Sergio Alvarez in the Celta goal.

Los Che did find an equalising goal before the interval, however, courtesy of Sofiane Feghouli who jumped highest to head home Pablo Piatti's cross.

Piatti turned from provider to scorer shortly before the hour-mark, finding the back of the net with a header of his own from a few yards out to make it 2-1 to Valencia.

It was the hosts who came closest to adding a third goal of the contest late on, and once more it was Piatti causing problems for Celta, getting on the end of another header which sailed narrowly wide of the target.

The victory lifts Valencia above their opponents in the final La Liga standings.
