Report: Nicolas Otamendi turned down Manchester United

Valencia defender Nicolas Otamendi rejected the chance to join Manchester United in the January transfer window, according to reports.

The 27-year-old Argentina international only joined Valencia for €12m (8.7m) from Porto last year.

However, Valencia accepted an offer from the Red Devils for the centre-back in January, only for Otamendi to turn down the chance to join Louis van Gaal's side, reports Spain's Super Deporte newspaper.

Otamendi, who has 18 caps for Argentina, was part of the Porto side that won the Europa League in 2011.
