Gary Neville 'confident' of Valencia success

Valencia manager Gary Neville insists that he is 'confident' results will improve, despite being winless in seven matches at the helm.

Gary Neville has insisted that he is 'confident' results will improve after he extended his winless league run as Valencia manager to seven matches on Sunday.

Los Che had to rely on a last-minute strike from Paco Alcacer to ensure a share of the spoils from their home clash with relegation battlers Rayo Vallecano, a result that took Neville's record to five draws and two defeats.

"It's hard to explain what happened in the first half, it was a very disappointing performance," Neville told reporters afterwards. "In football you have to win and enjoy yourself and we didn't show any of that. We have to correct this immediately.

"[The positives were] our response in the second half and the fact that the players showed a will to fight. I have confidence in the work that we are undertaking and I agree that the results aren't what we had hoped for.

"It isn't due to a lack of effort from the players. We've got a point, we will carry on working tomorrow and I'm sure that if we apply ourselves as we did in the second half we will get more points."

The home supporters voiced their displeasure at the final whistle, with some fans on social media already calling for him to be sacked.
