Fans gather to pay respects to Piermario Morosini

Several thousand people gathered outside Livorno's Armando Picchi stadium today to pay tribute to Piermario Morosini, the midfielder who died after collapsing on the pitch yesterday.

The 25-year-old suffered a suspected cardiac arrest in the 31st minute of Livorno's Serie B match at Pescara and was taken to hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Fans left scarves and flowers outside the stadium, where a banner read: "You fought until the end, goodbye great Moro."

Morosini joined Livorno from parent club Udinese in January.
