Chris Atkinson makes Tranmere Rovers loan switch

Atkinson makes Tranmere loan move

Tranmere Rovers have completed the signing of Huddersfield Town midfielder Chris Atkinson on loan.

The 21-year-old, who had a loan spell with Chesterfield last season, has agreed to link up with the Prenton Park club until January 2.

Town manager Mark Robins believes that the move will aid Atkinson's development.

"Chris enjoyed a similar loan in League Two with Chesterfield during the opening stages of last season and we believe the step up to League 1 will once again improve him further as a footballer," Robins told the club's official website.

"I have a good relationship with [Tranmere manager] Ronnie Moore having played under him at Rotherham and I know that he will help develop Chris's skills.

"Competition for a midfield spot is strong and Chris needs first team football."

Atkinson has made 13 appearances for the Terriers.
