Tranmere part company with Adams

Tranmere Rovers have announced that manager Micky Adams has left the club by mutual consent.

Rovers are currently two points adrift of safety at the bottom of the League Two table with two games left to play this season.

Adams oversaw an upturn in the team's fortunes when he arrived at Prenton Park in October, but a seven-game winless run has thrown their Football League future into doubt.

Assistant manager Alan Rogers and academy manager Shaun Garnett have been placed in charge of the side.

"We thank Micky for his work at Tranmere Rovers having taken over the club at a difficult time and wish him all the best for the future," read a statement on the club's official website.

Tranmere continue their battle for survival on April 25 when they make the trip to Plymouth Argyle.
