Jermain Defoe believes that he got his Toronto career off to a "dream" start last night.
The England international, who agreed to join the MLS club from Tottenham Hotspur in January, scored both goals as his new team recorded a 2-1 victory away at the Seattle Sounders.
Speaking after the match, the 31-year-old striker told reporters: "To score two goals in your debut, it's a dream. To come here and to win was massive for us. Everyone's delighted [and] it was an important three points."
Meanwhile, Toronto boss Ryan Nelsen added: "That was Jermain Defoe. Let's just say I'm not surprised.
"When the ball falls in those situations, he puts them away. That's why we brought him in. I was hoping he'd get in those scenarios and he got in them."
Defoe is still thought to be under consideration by England manager Roy Hodgson for this summer's World Cup, despite the fact that he has moved across the Atlantic.
