League One roundup: Swindon Town go top

Sports Mole rounds up Tuesday night's League One action, where there were significant wins for Swindon and Oldham.

A Gary Roberts double helped Paolo Di Canio-less Swindon Town beat Tranmere Rovers 3-1 tonight to climb to the League One summit.

The Robins are being temporarily managed by Fabrizio Piccareta after Di Canio quit his post on Monday in protest of off-field events.

In his absence, Di Canio's former assistant guided Swindon to victory over their fellow promotion contenders at Prenton Park.

James Collins fired the visitors ahead with his 15th goal of the season before Roberts's long-range half-volley put them two up.

West Bromwich Albion loanee Donervon Daniels pulled one back, but Roberts made sure of the points by chipping stranded Tranmere keeper Owain Fon Williams from 45 yards in stoppage time.

The result moves Swindon above their opponents to the top of the division, and there was also significant movement at the other end of the table.

Oldham Athletic climbed out of the League One relegation zone with a 2-1 victory over Stevenage at Broadhall Way.

James Dunne gave the hosts an early advantage, but second-half strikes from captain Dean Furman and James Tarkowski secured a come-from-behind win.
