Michael Laudrup admits that he wants to reduce the numbers at Swansea City to maintain squad harmony.

Swansea City manager Michael Laudrup has admitted that he is looking to trim his squad before the start of the season.

Laudrup is allowed to work with a maximum squad of 25 players, but thinks that it is important to reduce the numbers to keep his team happy.

The Danish boss told the South Wales Evening Post: "The idea is to work with 22 or maximum 23 players, and there are a lot of reasons for that.

"If you have 25 players, you have to leave out seven every time and that's too many. If you are always one of the seven, after three months you will say, 'What am I doing here?'

"Another part is to do with the youngsters. If they see 25 players in the first squad they think it is very difficult to break into it."

Laudrup will begin his efforts to maintain the Swans' Premier League status against Queens Park Rangers on August 18.
