Swansea City fail to break down Watford in goalless draw

Swansea fail to break down Watford

Swansea City remain in the Premier League's bottom three after playing out a goalless draw with Watford in manager Bob Bradley's first home game in charge.

The Swans came close to scoring a winner through Gylfi Sigurdsson, who saw his shot come back off the post, but in the end they were made to settle for a point which leaves them in 19th place.

A well-earned draw for Watford sees them climb one place to ninth, meanwhile, as the home side's wait for a first win since the opening weekend of the season goes on.

Swansea did at least keep their first clean sheet since that triumph at Turf Moor, with neither side truly threatening in a bland first half in South Wales which saw just two shots on target.

Bradley's charges, who last failed to score against today's opponents in 1923, did create more openings after the restart - the best of which saw Mike van der Hoorn denied by Heurelho Gomes from close range.

Despite looking a little hesitant in attack due to their poor start to the campaign, City looked to get bodies forward in search of a winner but so nearly came unstuck themselves.

Watford had a penalty appeal rejected when Valon Behrami was brought to ground by Kyle Naughton, before Sigurdsson hit the post at the other end of the field in a match that ultimately ended goalless.
