Swansea City goalkeeper Gerhard Tremmel out to prove his worth

Tremmel ready to step up
Swansea City goalkeeper Gerhard Tremmel says that he is ready to stand in for injured shot-stopper Michel Vorm.

Swansea City goalkeeper Gerhard Tremmel has insisted that he will prove to manager Michael Laudrup that he is capable of filling the boots of injured regular keeper Michel Vorm.

The 33-year-old could be required to replace the Netherlands international for a period of time after Vorm was injured during Swansea's 1-0 defeat to Manchester City on Saturday.

"It will an interesting few weeks ahead," Tremmel told the club's official website. "We have Liverpool on Wednesday [in the Capital One Cup] and Chelsea next Saturday. That's why I came here to Swansea.

"Obviously, Michel played very well last season, as did the whole team. You don't get many chances but I was training hard and I wanted to prove to the manager that I can come in and play. Now I have a chance, because of an injury, but hopefully I can get a few games now."

Tremmel moved to the Liberty Stadium last year.
