Swansea City to hand Carlos Carvalhal three-year deal?

Swansea City will reportedly hand Carlos Carvalhal a long-term contract should the Portuguese keep the Welsh club in the Premier League.

Swansea City have reportedly decided to hand head coach Carlos Carvalhal a three-year contract if the Welsh club remain in the Premier League.

In December, Carvalhal replaced Paul Clement with the Swans sitting at the bottom of the top-flight standings, but the Portuguese has spearheaded a dramatic change in fortunes.

Swansea are now three points above the relegation zone with Carvalhal collecting 18 points from 10 league fixtures, and according to The Mirror, that run of form has led to the club's hierarchy making plans to keep the 52-year-old in South Wales beyond the end of the current campaign.

Carvalhal's existing deal only lasts until the summer, but Swansea are said to want to hand the former Sheffield Wednesday man a contract until 2021 if the team stay outside of the bottom three.

Swansea have also reached the FA Cup quarter-finals this season, leaving Carvalhal with a record of eight wins and six draws from 17 matches in all competitions.
