Swansea game goes ahead despite Speed death

The Premier League clash between Swansea and Aston Villa has gone ahead, despite the confirmation of Wales manager Gary Speed's death just an hour earlier.

Speed, 42, was discovered hanged at his home this morning in an incident police say they are not treating as suspicious.

Today's early kick-off proceeded as planned in the wake of the news at the Liberty Stadium. Four Wales internationals form part of the two sides in action.

A minute's silence was called for just prior to kick-off, but instead fans showed respect with a minute's applause and chants of "there's only one Gary Speed".
