Routledge hopes for England call

Swansea City winger Wayne Routledge has hinted that he is aiming to break into the England team this season.

The 27-year-old has failed to receive a call-up to the senior squad during his career but has played 12 times for the Under-21 side.

"Everyone wants to play for your country, but my main focus is to play as well as I can for Swansea. If I'm performing well at club level then see where it takes me," he told The Independent.

"My goal this season is to play as many games as I can. I've had a little run of games and it's nice. I scored a goal, made a few assists and I'm enjoying my football."

Routledge, who has played for 10 clubs over a span of 11 years, moved to the Liberty Stadium from Newcastle United in August 2011.
