Swansea manager Brendan Rodgers wants Gylfi Sigurdsson and Scott Sinclair to remain at the club.

Swansea City manager Brendan Rodgers has expressed his desire to get both Gylfi Sigurdsson and Scott Sinclair to sign contracts at the club.

Sigurdsson, who is currently on loan from German side Hoffenheim, has made an impressive start to his Swansea career, scoring five goals in nine games, including two in the Swans' 3-0 win over Fulham yesterday, while Sinclair has been a key player for the Welsh side throughout the season.

Rodgers was in no doubt how important the two players are, and is keen to keep them at the Liberty Stadium.

"We have spoken to [Sigurdsson's] agent and I've made the chairman aware of my feelings but, ultimately, it's whether Hoffenheim want to sell him," he said.

"We needed a goal-scoring midfielder and he has fitted in well with this group of players."

On Sinclair, Rodgers had this to say: "There have been initial discussions. He's very happy here. It's not been put on the back-burner.

"He knows he's in a great place to develop so, hopefully, we can agree a new deal."

Swansea currently sit eighth in the Premier League table, three points behind seventh-placed Liverpool.
