Garry Monk: Transfer window is a "ridiculous cattle market"

Swansea City boss Garry Monk slams the winter transfer window, likening it to a "cattle market".

Swansea City boss Garry Monk has slammed the "ridiculous" nature of the transfer window, likening it to a "cattle market".

The Swans boss believes that the winter window is a seller's market and feels that clubs deliberately overprice their players to clubs who need to make signings.

Despite making four additions to his own side in January, the 35-year-old said that he much prefers working on deals in the summer.

"It can be a bit ridiculous at times," Monk is quoted as saying to BBC Sport. "The summer [transfer window] is a lot easier than this one.

"[It's] a cattle market and everyone's selling all their cows and they're overpricing the cows - some of them are bad.

"If the valuations are wrong, which they normally are in this window, you can't do the deal."

Monk has signed Kyle Naughton, Matt Grimes, Jack Cork and Nelson Oliveira this window.
